  Family policy
With kids of our own, we are definitely family friendly however our home is our pride and joy.
Please, make sure that you and your children treat it with the greatest of respect.

    Internet

We have a separate study, just in case you need
to take care of work whilst you are away from  home.
Or perhaps you'd just like to catch up with friends and
    email them your photos.
An Apple Mac  including printer plus Internet access is
    included for your convenience.

    Heating
We have pre-set, ‘state of the art’ underfloor heating system as well as a meter wide gas fire in the lounge. To
maximize their benefits – and yours – please draw the blinds each night before sunset. We’re sometimes are facing a
15 degree difference internally vs externally so this is really important. Please do not touch any of the underfloor
heating controls. In any case, all changes take a minimum of 24 hours to work. If you do fiddle , and it messes up –
just remember that the repairman is 5 hours away – and he’ll charge you the minimum call out charge of $500. Worst
case – if he’s already booked up for the next day – you might face 1-2 days without it which would just be terrible.
From May - August we have diesel-based underfloor heating, you'll be nice and toasty warm.

The house will have it's temperature preset for you so you don't have to worry about it!
Please don't try to change any temperatures  - it's all pre-defined.
For ambience and cosy evenings, there is also a stunning, over 1 metre wide, gas fireplace in the 'formal lounge' for
E-Mail Us   year round use.  There are controls under the grill plate or you can use the ones to the right hand side of it - up at shelf
level on the right hand side of the wall. They are labeled for your convenience.

Winter is harsh in the South Island. It's cold ! Cold enough to freeze pipes etc.   This year alone we've had temperatures of
minus 12 !  The heating can't help you if you leave windows open or forget to pull down and close ALL the blinds in the late
afternoon. Our home gets fabulous sunshine during the day - so open the curtains and let the house soak up the heat.
Then at dusk , by closing all blinds you can retain this heat and you'll be toasty!

    Smoke Free
Bennetts on Brisbane has a strict no-smoking policy
both in the house and in the grounds.
Our home insurance is also linked to this
non-smoking feature.  Please make sure that
any and all family members and guests are aware

of this. We are very passionate about this.

    Linen

There is a first aid kit as well as a  fire extinguisher up in the cupboard above the refrigerator

 E-Mail Us   Breakages
Sometimes life happens and breakages occur.
We would ask that you be fair to both us and any tenants following immediately on from you, in that if any damage
should occur please email us IMMEDIATELY and let us know. Queenstown is a small town and it often takes up to a week,
sometimes longer to get things repaired or replaced - especially if they are part of sets.
Naturally, we expect that you would cover the cost of any repairs/replacements  - though this is at our discretion.
Of course we won't get stressed if you have broken a coffee cup - but still, we'd like to know so that we can get the item
replaced before the next visitors arrive.
Ours is definitely not a party house - it's our home after all and we like to think that we carefully screen our guests to
preclude these kind of party goers - so all damage from a party is fully claimable against you.
Our front room is known as the Piano room.

This gets wonderful morning sun and opens up via french doors to a courtyard on to the garden area on the right hand side of the house.

  Telephone
Yes, we have a phone! Actually there are five in the house.  The base station and answering machine for all the
handhelds is in the study.  Handhelds are also  in the kitchen and in the formal / parents lounge.
The master bedroom has it's own phone next to the bed and there is also a handset on the wall of the master ensuite
and within reach of the bath. The phones at Bennetts on Brisbane  are available for visitor use for  both local and free-call
numbers.  If you have friends who need to contact you - the number for Bennetts on Brisbane  is +64 3 441 2028

In 2009 this room is being refurbished with new colours and a Queen bed.

The new colour scheme will be black and latte and crisp white.

New curtains are on order for winter weather.

    Groceries
Just outside of town there are two well stocked supermarkets. There's also  two smaller ones in the downtown
    Queenstown city area.
Of the two large ones, Fresh Choice, on Gorge Road is the closest to town (approx 1 km)  whilst New World is out at
Frankton (approx 6kms) Both will home-deliver to save you the effort of going there, however we regularly walk to Fresh
Choice. It will take around 10-15 minutes. Recently Fresh Choice have also added an on-line grocery service to pre-order
Right in town, you'll have the choice of either Alpine Supermarket or the smaller Day / Night supermarket, which after the
fire earlier this year, has re-located to where the Pizza Hut used to be. The Day / Night supermarket is the one which is
physically closest to Bennetts on Brisbane. The ones in town are very convenient however they have much higher prices
and their range can be quite limited.

    Airport Transfers
Upon arrival at Queenstown Airport, you can find our home in a variety of ways. We're only 6kms from the airport - right
in town - tell the people that you'd like Brisbane Street - near the Gardens and they'll know where you mean.
A Taxi is our recommendation - expect to pay around 30-35 NZ dollars. This is the most expensive but also the quickest
way to arrive. Less hassle, less delays.
Shuttle buses are also available from the airport. They are clean and tidy however they often firstly do a tour of the
hotels before dropping off elsewhere. The shuttle busses also charge by 'per person' which means they could be more
expensive in the long run than a taxi.
Neither shuttles nor taxis will charge you to carry your skis - and during they all have ski racks. However in summer, ask
if they will charge you more to carry your golf clubs.
The Red Double Decker Shopper Bus is the cheapest option  - it's timetable (changes frequently) is on display in the
airport however they will not drop you door to door, instead you'll be dropped off in the centre of town.

    Lord of the Rings
Bennetts on Brisbane is ideally suited to visit  Lord of the Rings set locations.
Arrowtown - visit the Chinese settlement  then Skippers Canyon which was used for the filming for when
confronted the Black Riders at the Ford of Buinenwas encampment.
Raft past the site of Argonath  (the Pillar the Kings) - see the Extreme Green Rafting Tours website.
Kelvin Heights - Deer Park Heights was used on all the movies eg. Gandalf riding to Mnas Tirith.
Skippers Canyon - The Ford at Buinen. Also check out Lothlorien, Isengard and The Misty Mountains, Macetown
and Paradise. Amon Hen was in Closeburn - on the way to Genorchy.

    TV / DVDs
At Bennetts on Brisbane, we're partial to our TV shows and movies.
    Formal Lounge / Parent's Lounge
This year saw the installation of a new Samsung LCD TV  and a DVD player for your use.
New Zealand has 4 major TV stations.  Sky TV (20 channels) + Sky Sport is also connected.
In fact, we have 2 separate sky decoders - one for this parents  lounge and one which broadcasts to all the
    other rooms in the house.
As we have a multitude of devices - we have a box which everything connects into. This is in the
cupboard under the TV (as are the dvd player & video). Notes on use are on the inside of that door.
    Master Bedroom
The Master bedroom also been upgraded this year to include a Samsung flat screen 32 inch LCD TV/ DVD
    Kitchen
Yes, even the Kitchen has an 17 inch flat screen LG LCD with built in DVD player in case you'd like to listen to music or
  play culinary dvds whilst cooking.
    Third Bedroom
Our third bedroom also has a 14 inch TV which is connected to Sky via the decoder in the front room.

    Master Ensuite Spa
The master ensuite includes the top of the range Englefield spa. With 24 different jets, including multiple massagers and
heating controls  - it's just wonderful. It's really important however that you always check that the water level is high
enough to cover entirely the highest jet that you've activated. Activation controls for each jet are near the hand shower.
If you activate the spa but the water level is below the level of the highest activated the - then the motor will burn out.
within minutes and unfortunately you will be liable for replacement.
Please, if you either bump the 'on'  switch or realise - from the noise -  that there is not enough water - immediately turn
off the spa and put in more water or change the settings.
Enjoy!     It is the best we could find on the market!

Master Ensuite - enter via the Turkish Marriage Rug and embrace the marble and granite room. With an Englefield Spa with 24 jets as well as a fountain shower you'll just love the opulance.

Our Bedroom Configurations  -  (all rooms are queen or double sized rooms and all with built in robes)
    Upstairs:
Master Bedroom: King sized bed with orthopaedic mattress. Private balcony accessed via french doors and includes
table and chairs. Private marble ensuite with spa bath with 24 jets and fountain bath outlet. Refer
      also to section above "Spa"
Second Bedroom:   King Single bed facing lovely bay window with bench seat that overlooks Lake Wakitipu towards
towards the Kelvin Heights Golf Course and the Remarkables mountain range. Private ensuite
with shower recess.  Recently remodeled, the paint is the same colour however there's a new
single bed, different side table with new lamp, new white wall mounted flat screen  tv that is
connected to the SKY satellite decoder in the front room
    Downstairs:
Third bedroom: This room is currently has also been recently renovated. Already, we've changed to a Queen bed
with orthopaedic mattress, and this room has a beautiful bay window with a garden outlook.
There are built in robes and drawers as well as a small TV  which is connected to the SKY satellite
via the signal from the decoder in the front room.

Fourth bedroom: Our burgundy and cream room is pure luxury. A Queen bed commands attention in the  centre of
the room, with a lovely set of bay windows out to a garden view. There are private French doors
straight out to the courtyard and the built in robes are set into the bed head! There is a small
photo of this room on the front, home page of this website.
    The Loft:
The Loft is another bedroom for adults or children over 6 who are not night wanderers.
It is accessed via a  different set of internal stairs (from near the parent's lounge) and is away from the other
bedrooms. These stairs are very steep and we do not recommend that any child under 6 is left unaccompanied
due to the vaulted area to downstairs as well as there being roof access and the step's steepness  (no soft landings).
The Loft also doubles as another bedroom for adults or children over 6 who are not night wanderers.

This can be configured in a number of different ways for you. A single bed, or using the pull out double couch bed, or with
a single trundle. Just let us know your requirements and we'll have it set up for you upon your arrival.
    Shared Bathrooms:
The loft, 3rd and 4th bedrooms share a double sized bathroom featuring double basins, a very large mirror,  a double
sized shower with the latest Grohe double - headed shower  feature  (Freehander) + two side spa jets.

Winter Tariff - Why is it more expensive to rent during Winter?
No, we're not trying to take advantage of you because it's the ski season. The fact is that Bennetts on Brisbane  is a very,
very large, long house. Our diesel run, water flow underfloor heating system is simply wonderful in that you'll always
be toasty warm, however it is not only extensive in the meterage but also ridiculously expensive to run.
Our local power supplier also raises the cost of electricity by as much as 40% during Winter !
The increase in rates is to contribute towards these extra charges.

  Outdoor Jacuzzi
You may notice in the backyard that there's an outdoor Jacuzzi. Sorry, This is for owner's use only.
